Meet Marjorie Light, better known as Gingee. She’s been DJing for over a decade now and has turned the heads of her peers and the ‘higher music council’ with her own brand of bass music for the last few years. She is a diversified young lady who you would think is ready to take on the world, but she’s already been two-steps ahead of all that. Bound to the rhythm for as long as she could remember, Gingee, raised in LA, grew up in a house of music leading her to become a passionate student of self-expression. From playing instruments as a youth, to self-publishing poetry as a teen, promoting a music festival that began in her Mom’s garage and eventually putting out several of her own albums and Eps, Gingee’s evolution as an artist and commitment may be just in time to land her a space amongst some of the great innovators in the future of global bass. She’s a killer producer, an mc and singer, plus a damn good dj, the scratching alone will make you itch!
About the mix…
“…some of my productions mixed with global bass from around the world, including rasterinha, zouk bass, moombahton and kuduro plus I added some scratching and fun transitions.” -Gingee

Secondly, is a brand new travel mix for Sound Colour Vibration‘s podcast, aptly titled “World Travel Mix,” described in Gingee’s own words as “Some of my favorite tracks from all over that I’ve collected through the years, whether found on the streets of Mumbai, blasted in jeep rides through the Himalayas, in music and dance courses I’ve taken, or played for me by my dad when I was growing up. This is music that nourishes my spirit and that I keep going back to.”

After 10 years of hosting the biggest Weekly Afroboogie Ritual the West Coast has ever witnessed at Santa Monica’s Zanzibar, the beloved Afro Funké Soundsystem is moving forward and signing out from the club night that took much responsibility in reviving an entire scene. Tonight the tribe reunites with past djs, musicians and the community, together, under the roof that we’ve all grooved below once before, one last time. Beats of All-Nations would like to salute Jeremy Sole, Glenn Red, Rocky Dawuni and Cary Sullivan for staying true to the purpose and providing us with such a service. Thank You!
Here is one of our favorite moments witnessed at AF, Cut Chemist (who will be in the house tonight), performing “Adidas to Addis” from the Sound of the Police release party live on One-Turntable and a loop pedal:
Now for tonight’s extravagant line up and details…
