NEW RELEASE :: “GOING BACK TO CALI: CUT CHEMIST’S COLOMBIAN CRATES REMIXED”

Upon return from a recent trip to the deepest of crates in Colombia, Cut Chemist and Beats of All-Nations sought out to remix a unique set of dusty records, each different from the last, with an equally diverse list of producers. Going Back to Cali: Cut Chemist’s Colombian Crates Remixed is MORE THAN CUMBIA, its a reflection on a tropical culture rich in spirit, creativity and passion strung together with field recordings found along the way. These records were bought in Cali, Colombia during Patronio Alvarez Festival last year, hence the name.

Our trip begins with folklore Colombiano favorites Los Corraleros de Majagual over a crunchy boom-bap by Co. Fee from Los Angeles’ beat collective, My Hollow Drum. Dance Kill Move (Stockholm, Sweden) adds some serious low end to Los Jovenes de Hierro’s classic charanga, “Ritmo Sabroso.” Ubiquity recording artist, currently residing in Colobmia, Bosq and Yukicito of La Junta (Los Angeles) contribute absolute party starters, while El Dusty’s “Mi Chola” give Los Teen Agers a taste Corpus Christi, TX. Atropolis (Queens) pays homage with a heavy stripped down edit of Julio y su Combo’s “Lamento Cumbiambero” and Los Chicos Altos (Barcelona) add in some rub-a-dub flavor on Los Hermanos Tuiran’s “Lluvia.” In addition we explore national treasures and the lesser known, new styles of chirimía, porro, pachanga, salsa and cumbia as interpreted by Sumohair (Los Angeles), Gabe Real (Pomona, CA) and Greece duo SUPERSAN (aka Panama Cardoon & Mister Kentro).

Beats of All-Nations presents Seasons Change

BEATSOAN copy

On Monday August 17th Beats of All-Nations will launch Seasons Change, a 13-track feature compilation of beats and compositions that will be available to listeners for free.   On this collection we are revisited by artists whom we’ve worked with in the past, and several of which making their Beats of All-Nations debut. Following the success of his album In the Moment, Makaya McCraven, a pioneer in the new jazz era offers the live-drum heavy “Midman.” Bombay Da Realest, producer of Blu’s Good to Be Home album, hits hard with the funk inspired “Dig This”.  Sev Seveer, the highly creative abstract hip hop manufacturer of our first official release, Constant Elevation: Odessa Star, returns with vocalist Megiapa on the vibed out “C.S.G.”  International sounds however are not forgotten by Co. Fee on the Brazilian inspired “White Sands.”  The compilation comes complete with exclusive artwork designed by Deladeso.

Beats of All-Nations, founded by Mike Styles in 2009, did not set out to be a label, nor have we conformed to that title. We are a community of artists, producers, deejays music and culture enthusiasts. Our operation is small, though we are represented by many with a goal to continuously raise the bar while keeping the art diverse and the vibes just right. We feature artists you may already love, but especially those you may have never heard before. Along the way, we have given independent artists a voice and an open space to create while introducing them to new audiences. Beats of All-Nations’ very own Porchlite gets busy on the smoothed out “Where are the Roses.” French producer 7even Sun, of our second release Escapologies and our veteran engineer Choco also supply some enlightening rhythms to the project. Other contributors include wave Groove and DJ Erok of Void Shift, Radius (Etc. Records) and Repeated Measures (New Los Angeles/Beat Cinema). The comp opens with music by Aux Voyager and closes with a colossal tune by Sleep to Static two veteran producers from our community. Seasons Change will be available for free download on August 17th, 2015 exclusively on www.beatsofallnations.com.

Beats of All-Nations Radio Episode 009: Mixed by Co.fee

BOAN 009 CoFee Cover Art On episode nine of Beats of All-Nations Radio we are excited to bring to you a brand new mix from Los Angeles producer Co.fee. He’s been producing beats since 2005 and in 2011 he released his first EP on My Hollow Drum, titled Easy Listening, followed by the Bermuda EP released in 2012.  Co.fee brings a uniquely refreshing feel to the show with this drum heavy eccentric mix of music from the international community.

“This mix is basically a playlist of my favorite songs and artists that I am feeling at the moment.  I tried to keep it as diverse as possible.” -Co.fee

Beats of All-Nations Radio Episode 008: wave Groove

Words by: Mike Styles

wavegroove photo

“As I keep progressing further into sound I find myself diverging out of the normal and really searching within myself to hear what I like.”

Beats of All-Nations Radio Episode 008:
wave Groove (Los Angeles)

2014 was a big year for Los Angeles bassed producer wave Groove.  The Critical Beatdown member, joined up with Beat Cinema, and created his own ‘hub’ for music with DJ Erok called Voidshift Radio, names that all ring loud in Southern California.  He was put on heavy line ups and generated a nice buzz, stealing shine from headliners on every bill he played.  His new album DATA / FORMAT / BEAT / PROJECT was beautifully constructed and is available now (links below).  On this mix wave Groove plays a few of his new tunes side by side with some handpicked others.

In the interview below wave Groove tells us about his evolution from dj to production, his take on turntables and controllers, opening for SBTRKT and what to expect at Re:Fresh Valentine’s Day 2015:  wave Groove Album Release Party.

Beats of All-Nations Radio Episode 003 :: Featuring Radius and Sev Seveer

Beats of All-Nations Radio Episode 003 Artwork

Words By: Mike Styles

Beats of All-Nations Radio returns with a double A-Side, that’s right we have a 2-part show for you, doubling up on the producers and stepping outside the So. Cal region for some heavy beats from the Windy City.

Some background, I had the opportunity to judge Beat Cinema’s Beat Battle v. 6 last month along side Co.Fee and Repeated Measures. There were twenty or so producers, most of them killed it,  the battle was an absolute fire fight after the first eliminations. However two of the participants from Chicago blew our minds that night. Porchlite and I knew we had to get something cooking with Radius and Sev Seveer while the flame was still set on high. We all instantly got on the same page and began to draw out a blue print for Episode 003.

Radius comes from Chicago’s Southside but really a resident of the earth, a traveling beat maker. Designing sound since 2001, Radius has made quite a name for himself in today’s beat scene. He has successfully ran the LA circuit, gaining respect and head nods from the likes of Low End Theory, dublab and Beat Cinema to name a few. He’s released music in almost every format from 7″ vinyl, cassettes, cd and digital. Radius only needs the most minimal set up, a MPC 1000, a Korg Kaossilator Pro and Korg Kaoss Pad Mini to perform his improv beat sets. He packs light, travels heavy and extracts everything he needs out of the little that he carries.

Sev Seveer comes from the Northside of the Chi, with a background of journalism, in college he participated in Hip Hop Congress, hosted and DJed radio shows from “Beats n Rhymes” on WPGU 107.1  to “The Hip Hop Project” on WLUW 88.7 FM. He has managed to find time in all of that to create his own path with music. With many releases under his belt, some of his most notable works include Freddie Gibbs’ “Terrorist (Seveer Transmission Remix)” as well as featured releases with Pragmatic Theory, Push Beats Chicago and composing bed music for The Roy Ayers Project. No stranger to the live element, Sev has plugged in and played his SP and Kaoss Pad at SXSW for the last two years (2013:  DJ Set, 2014:  Beat Set), featured at Beat Swapmeet and opened for Elaquent.

What drew us to these guys was their ability to completely bend any rules of limitation on standard production, they take their own path and finish ahead of the rest. But that’s not the only reason. There’s something about these two that we can’t really put into words. Its more of the intangible nature. Maybe its their ability to be independent and on the move. Maybe its their good spirits. Maybe its their connectedness to the Earth…Its probably all of that and then some.

At the point of publishing this episode, neither producer has heard the mix of the other. So not only will it be your first time hearing this episode in full, it’ll be theirs as well. We’re sending a huge THANK YOU to the guys for all of their hard work on this episode. This ain’t the last hear gonna hear from them!

Get your mind right, enjoy the ride and be sure to check our interview with both artists below!
