Beats of All-Nations presents Seasons Change

BEATSOAN copy

On Monday August 17th Beats of All-Nations will launch Seasons Change, a 13-track feature compilation of beats and compositions that will be available to listeners for free.   On this collection we are revisited by artists whom we’ve worked with in the past, and several of which making their Beats of All-Nations debut. Following the success of his album In the Moment, Makaya McCraven, a pioneer in the new jazz era offers the live-drum heavy “Midman.” Bombay Da Realest, producer of Blu’s Good to Be Home album, hits hard with the funk inspired “Dig This”.  Sev Seveer, the highly creative abstract hip hop manufacturer of our first official release, Constant Elevation: Odessa Star, returns with vocalist Megiapa on the vibed out “C.S.G.”  International sounds however are not forgotten by Co. Fee on the Brazilian inspired “White Sands.”  The compilation comes complete with exclusive artwork designed by Deladeso.

Beats of All-Nations, founded by Mike Styles in 2009, did not set out to be a label, nor have we conformed to that title. We are a community of artists, producers, deejays music and culture enthusiasts. Our operation is small, though we are represented by many with a goal to continuously raise the bar while keeping the art diverse and the vibes just right. We feature artists you may already love, but especially those you may have never heard before. Along the way, we have given independent artists a voice and an open space to create while introducing them to new audiences. Beats of All-Nations’ very own Porchlite gets busy on the smoothed out “Where are the Roses.” French producer 7even Sun, of our second release Escapologies and our veteran engineer Choco also supply some enlightening rhythms to the project. Other contributors include wave Groove and DJ Erok of Void Shift, Radius (Etc. Records) and Repeated Measures (New Los Angeles/Beat Cinema). The comp opens with music by Aux Voyager and closes with a colossal tune by Sleep to Static two veteran producers from our community. Seasons Change will be available for free download on August 17th, 2015 exclusively on www.beatsofallnations.com.

NEW MUSIC: J. Rocc & MED are AXEL F. – “THEME MUSIC”

Word by Mike Styles

axel-f-j-rocc-medd

After the buzzing Sofa Set Ep dropped last year, we were super stoked to learn of a full length by Axel F., not quite the synthy Beverly Hills Cop theme.  Rather a collaboration joint from, J. Rocc (Beat Junkies) behind the boards and MED up front on the mic.  Theme Music, released earlier this week on Bang Ya Head, is another chapter in hip hop’s street gospel, a modern blaxploitation flick on wax.  MED has been a recognized hit man with classic verses on some of your favorite Stones Throw related joints (cue up Madvillainy, Shades of Blue, “Blind Man (Cut Chemist Remix)”, Push Comes to Shove)…J.Rocc, is well, arguably the greatest dj, party rocker, sample puller on the planet and this is his first solo produced hip hop album.  The combo here is a no brainer and the album reflects exactly as it should.

From the jump you can already feel your leg sweat sticking to the sofa plastic on “Searchin’.”  “The Set” is what hooked us from the start, the stand out 808 boom bap track from the Sofa Set ep and one of MED finest moments.

“Omega ft. Blu” is the latest single dropped from the duo, where Blu and MED exchange punchy hood versus over a monster of a beat by ‘The Funky President’.

How about them bells?  We won’t spill all the beans but you’re going to get the full spectrum here.  MED discusses the nature of economics (“Sofa Coins”).

197669_414811018557932_730889289_nThere’s a love joint featuring our girl Jimetta Rose (“SCWF”), an awesome ode to Mary Jane with fellow Stones Throw artist Oh No (“All Day”) and what underground West Coast album is complete without an appearance by Phil the Agony & Krondon (“Superman”)?  Oh can’t forget about the international and soul bonus beats provided by J. Rocc.  All in all a great set of music for the streets, dropped with perfect timing.  Support the independent effort and much respect to J. Rocc & MED for this one.

Beats of All-Nations Radio Episode 002 :: Featuring Bombay + Porchlite

BEATS_OF_ALL_NATIONS_002

Alas! There has been much anticipation for this episode since our maiden voyage of Beats of All-Nations Radio: Episode 001 featuring Cell Uno. Thanks to everyone who showed us some love…This one took a little time to organize and arrange but we do have something real special for you.

Episode 002 features the brilliant production from the Inland Empire’s very own Bombay. This guys isn’t your average producer, Bombay has been building heavy steam over the years.  His production credits include Aloe Blacc, Blu, Alchemist, The KO Corporation, and Home Grown Organix. 2013 was a busy year for Bombay, he managed to tour with Blu, and Tiron & Ayomari, DJ’ed for Elzhi at Paid Dues, and released his critically acclaimed Last 3 Days album, and 2014 looks even more promising.  It’s no wonder he’s been referred over and over as the ‘IE’s best kept secret,’ from those in the know.

In this episode Bombay’s beats, mostly unreleased instrumentals and exclusives, are mixed by Beats of All-Nations very own Porchlite. Who is no stranger to the game either, Porchlite is one of our in-house producer/DJs dabbling in a range of sounds from electronic, house to downtempo and hip hop. In the past he has toured the nation with the likes of The Roots, NERD, Talib Kweli, Mayer Hawthorne and Skillz. His production and performance schedule is a busy one in 2014 so we’re sure you’ll be seeing and hearing him all over the place.

Bombay and Porchlite’s collaboration on this mix is something special as the two are well acquainted with each others styles and you probably won’t hear their music as well represented as in this mix. Without further ado here is Beats of All-Nations Radio Episode 002 featuring Bombay & Porchlite. Enjoy!

Of course we sat down with the two to discuss influences, the mix, and favorite food spots. Interview and exclusive 3-track download from Bombay after the jump.
