DJ Gabe Real is an OG Beats of All-Nations and Inland Empire ambassador. His involvement at Coachella Arts and Music Festival spans over the last decade, more than any other artist consecutively billed on the festival. This year catch him on the Coachella (main) Stage on Sunday April 14th & 21st at 1:30 pm and at the Safari Lounge in the AM and PM hours during both weekends. On this show Gabe Real opens with a mix of artists he’s looking forward to and recommends you catch up with on the Empire Polo Fields or from home on the Coachella YouTube stream. We also get to hear his live set from the Coachella Stage in 2016 and we wrap with some highlights from recent mixes he has contributed to for Beats of All-Nations Radio as co-host of the show. We also shine light on the artists and DJs within our community who will also be taking part in this year’s fest including past guests and friends including Gingee, Jimbo Jenkins, Phantom Thrett and so many more. See y’all in the desert.
Producer Max I Million (https://soundcloud.com/max-i-million) has put together an amazing conceptual mix transmitting live and worldwide from Stockholm, Sweden to Pomona, CA. He’s done official remix work for the likes of CL Smooth, Edo G, Planet Asia, Kev Brown, and Masta Ace. “I also worked with Promoe from Looptroop Rockers and ADL, who are about as close you can get to Swedish Hip Hop legends.” Max’s last release was on an instrumental cassette called Beats, Mines & Life, where he shares space with Ayatollah, Khrysis, M-Phazes and Nottz. Look out for his latest drop with Chuck D, Bishop Lamont and Mykill Miers on Counterweight Records. His right hand man Chapee intros the mix on a track the two previously collaborated on. “He’s a real master of ceremony, and I’m usually that cat in the background who speak with my music.”
Mike Styles opens the show with a short mix featuring new music from Makaya McCraven, Co. Fee, Sumohair and SUPERSAN. Gabe Real seals the deal with a dj buffet and a blast from the past when he reunites with a scratch record he pressed and released in the early 2000s.
We’re celebrating 17 years of A Mic and Dimlights with a takeover by Bess Kepp, the host & JB, the DJ! A Mic & Dimlights is the longest running event in Downtown Pomona celebrating free speech with an open mic every Thursday. AMDL is now a monthly and the two Nor-Cal boys, turned IE OGs are mentoring the next gen to keep this community outlet moving forward. JB plays the mids and Bess Kepp takes us out with the infamous Dim Lights (outro).
AMDL Alumni Leeclaybang reunites with the fam. Formerly known as Brother Dvooa, the poet-emcee, dancer, now a producer gone dj, yes he’s covering all elements. He opens the show with a dj set, the crew talks about memories at Dim Lights, the early days, its many venues and what’s to come. Gabe Real, also having worked within the community over the same timespan contributes to the conversation and delivers a closing mix.
DJ EKO (LA/NYC), a natural ambassador sharing unique vibes from around the world from her small piece of whichever big city she’s currently residing in. Not only a recognized tastemaker in the music world, she offers the community deeper insight on new artists and music, not just as a dj, but as a staff writer for Okayfuture, the electronic branch of Okayplayer.
Eko effortlessly weaves genres together, telling a story with her unique signature. She’s widely known for a future R&B mix series titled “Soultronica” and loves to plays Pan-African music with her Global Bass family. She surprises audiences with remix production of favorite tunes and her unyielding passion lies in seeking out the newest, most creative production and developing genres.
“When someone gives me open format, this is an example of what happens. Soultronica, Brazilian, African, Dancehall, Soul…all woven together with some common aesthetic thread. Traveling through like this may look a little crazy in a track listing but makes sense on the ears. xo” -DJ EKO
We’re excited to introduce a new, live element to Beats of All-Nations Radio! In the past we have featured DJ and Producer showcases, but as we have progressed we’ve had the urge to record some of the talented live acts that we build with in the same capacity. Thanks to resident Re:Fresh[er] and Beats of All-Nations crew member Gabe Real, we have taken that step and look forward to keep this good thing moving forward!
We’ve been working with the super latin-tropical front band Buyepongo for the last four years. They’ve rocked our parties, we’ve supported as djs at their shows. We’ve done a lot together, and this past summer we did the most! To say the least the love is mutual. The Buye crew has finished up their long awaited debut album, Todo Mundo and has been prepping their album release party at the El Rey Theatre in Los Angeles on January 30th. In the meantime they agreed to help us test pilot our live sessions podcast.
The band loaded up the car with instruments then drove from Compton to Pomona where we documented a very loose and organic intimate night of warm music on a rather cold night filled with IPAs, trees to breathe, kombucha, ginger beer and fine cheeses from around the world. We also talked to guys a bit.
Enjoy the show. We certainly did!
Recorded live in Pomona, CA.
Todo Mundo will be available on January 29th, with an awesome release party to follow on January 30th (see below). Pre-order tickets for the show and get the album immediately at http://buyepongo.bandcamp.com
PS. Here’s the video mentioned in the interview…Way back in 2012 when we first linked up with Buyepongo at Re:Fresh.

He’s executed the sound on several of our past episodes of Beats of All-Nations Radio, but now its his time to control the sound alas, Beats of All-Nations Radio Episode 11: DJ Choco // 12 Hunit Mix!!
“It’s great to take a left turn from the rigid labeling of genres and present a DJ mix in a more artistic light” – DJ Choco // 1200 Warriors
Chicago based Venezuelan producer and DJ, Bumbac Joe, has been working the turntables and producing music for over a decade. You can hear the influence of his world travels in his selections as he has resided on several different continents with music on his mind 100 percent of the time. His EP, Hot Revolution just dropped and now a brand new mix filled with tropical swing for Beats of All-Nations Radio episode 10 is here!
“This mix has a lot of latin flavor, it´s sort of my favorite kind of DJ set, with a right balance of remixes of classics, like Mongo Santamaría, Fania All Stars and Fabulosos Cadillacs, tracks hard to find like “Mister Mister” from La Gallera Social Club, music projects from the US but with a latin flare like Ozomatli or De La Buena, some jazzy spices and a lot groove variations.” -BUMBAC JOE
Its the final stretch. Help Radius & ETC Records make their first official full length vinyl release, Time Travel is Real (A Prelude to Japan…).
Chicago born producer Radius ETC, has been very active creating and performing his unique style of beats since 2001. He is the co-founder of two Chicago based groups; LAGOS (w/ Leo 123) and Beyond Luck (w/ Dj Moppy). Since 2008, Radius has pursued his craft and vision within various DIY communities in places like LA, Seattle, the Bay Area, NY, Hawaii, Japan and the of course the windy city.
Working independently most of Radius’ work has been limited to digital release and cd burns. Time Travel is Real (A Prelude to Japan…) had a now sold out, limited cassette release on I Had an Accident Records. A full-length vinyl release has always been a goal for Radius. Touring throughout the U.S. and recently abroad has shown that supporters share this exact sentiment.
The opportunity is now here, Time Travel Is Real (A Prelude to Japan…) on wax!
“I hope that it serves as an inspiration to all those that listen. Supreme full circle energy reflection is the key. Stay strong & keep creating and pushing YOUR dreams to REALITY. Thanks for your support. Much respect. Enjoy and see you soon.” -Radius
There are some nice perks attached to donations that will make this project a reality. The goal is now at arms reach, with over 90% of funding complete. With only a bit over a week left, we encourage you to get behind a talented artist who is putting every ounce of energy and efforts into his craft.
Time Travel is Real (A Prelude to Japan…) is inspired by and recorded in Chicago and Hawaii just prior to a visit to Japan on the music tip, last fall. The album was well received with recognition and airplay from the likes of Mathieu Schreyer (KCRW), LeFtO (Brownswood/Bluenote), Kev Beadle (Mind Fluid/London).
On episode nine of Beats of All-Nations Radio we are excited to bring to you a brand new mix from Los Angeles producer Co.fee. He’s been producing beats since 2005 and in 2011 he released his first EP on My Hollow Drum, titled Easy Listening, followed by the Bermuda EP released in 2012. Co.fee brings a uniquely refreshing feel to the show with this drum heavy eccentric mix of music from the international community.
“This mix is basically a playlist of my favorite songs and artists that I am feeling at the moment. I tried to keep it as diverse as possible.” -Co.fee
2014 was a big year for the growth of Beats of All-Nations. Though every year we look back and think about what more we could have done, we did attain some personal and organizational goals that we are very proud of in ’14. On Beats of All-Nations Radio Episode 006, we compiled highlights from our podcasts this year, with guests Cell Uno, Bombay, Radius, Sev Seveer, DJ Jimbo Jenkins, Gingee. We also put together clips from our own radio appearances made on Culture Remixed, Soul Circle Radio, Vibes and Stuff featuring Porchlite, El Toro Negro, Gabe Real and Mike Styles with DJ Ethos. In addition we spotlight our first official release by Sev Seveer, Constant Elevation: Odessa Star, traveling through a couple of ‘movements’ from the album while Seveer discusses the project’s meaning with DJ Moppy on Future Music Radio (Q4, Chicago). Collectively we also had a great year hosting and taking part in some great events. We would like to thank everyone who supported on any level. We are looking forward to the year to come and hope to build on this community with more of you along the way!
