On September 20th 2011, Los Angeles based singer, songwriter and musician Gaby Hernandez released her sophomore album, “Sweet Starry Night,” on Diques Corde. Hernandez has been collaborating with some of the cities brightest musicians for over 10 years. She is a founding member of the creative soul music ensemble, Build an Ark, and has been recording and performing with them since 2001. Influenced by everything from opera to pop, folkloric to experimental, Gaby can be categorized somewhere between two of her biggest influences, Sade and Karen Carpenter. Gaby Hernandez has now come forward with her strongest, most fully developed and inspired body of work Sweet Starry Night, produced by The Life Force Trio, and Executive Produced by super tastemaker and LA’s music liaison to world, Carlos Niño.
For those that are familiar with Gabby Hernandez’ prior works with Mia Doi Todd, Carlos Niño, Build an Ark, Miguel Atwood-Ferguson, Take, etc. Expect the same striking harmonious vocals, in several languages over a range of primal percussion to beats that are ahead of their time, in true Los Angeles underground fashion. Sweet Starry Night, highlights Gaby as the soothing vocalist on a cosmic journey, while gripping onto the soul of Mother Earth. This album dissolves all boundaries in the soul jazz music realm, with the beautiful vocals and rich music, channeling peace of mind.
Tuesday, September 27, 2011. Gaby Hernandez and The Life Force Trio will be performing Sweet Starry Night and will be premiering the album’s first video.
